CSD Dialup (PPP) Setup instructions for Windows 2000

You will need the following information:

  • Your user name (login ID)
  • Your password
  • 56k Dial-up Number: 303-583-3000

1. To get to the New Connection Wizard using the Start Menu:
Start -> Settings -> Network and Dial-up Connections

Double click the Make New Connection icon.


2. You will see a screen like this one:

Click Next.

3. On the "Network Connection Wizard" screen, select Dial-up to the Internet.

Click Next.

4. On the "Internet Connection Wizard" screen, select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN).

Click Next.

5. On the "Setting up your Internet Connection" screen, select I connect through a phone line and a modem.

Click Next.

6. On the "Choose Modem" screen, select your modem
Note:Your modem will most likely have a different name than the example shown here.

Click Next.

7. On the "Step 1 of 3: Internet account connection information" screen, enter: 303 583-3000 for the area code and telephone number.

Click Next.

8. On the "Step 2 of 3: Internet account logon information" screen, enter your username and password.

Click Next.

9. On the "Step 3 of 3: Configuring your computer" screen, enter CSD as the name of your dial-up connection.

Click Next.

10. On the "Set Up Your Internet Mail Account" screen, answer "No" when it asks you "Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now?"

Click Next.

11. You will be brought to the final screen:

Click Finish.

12. In the Network and Dial-Up Connections window, Right-Click the CSD icon and Select "Properties".

13. Click the Networking Tab at the top of the Properties window. In the section labeled "Components checked are used by this connection:", make sure that TCP/IP is the only one checked. Click TCP/IP to highlight it, and then click the Properties button.

14. In the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties" window, select Use the following DNS server addresses:. Then, enter the following numbers
Preferred DNS server: 198.80.11.116
Alternate DNS server: 204.181.152.140

Then click OK to save the changes in these windows, clicking OK until you get back to the "Network and Dial-Up Connections" window.

15. In the Network and Dial-Up Connections window, Right-Click the CSD icon and Select "Create Shortcut". Answer Yes when it asks you if you want to create the shortcut on the desktop.

You are now ready to connect to the Internet.
Double Click the CSD icon on your Desktop to connect to the Internet.
