The Actiontec 1520 is a combination USB (Universal Serial Bus) / Ethernet external modem with a wireless expandable interface and a built in Ethernet switch.

  • The Actiontec 1520 functions as a router supporting multiple users via the Ethernet interface.
  • The modem is also a single user device via the USB interface.
  • The Actiontec 1520 includes a PCMCIA slot for wireless expansion. The wireless card for the PCMCIA slot is sold separately from the unit.

Connecting the Gateway

Step 1. Get the Power Cord out of the Black Bag and plug the smaller end of the Power Cord into the Black Port located on the back of the DSL Gateway.


Step 2. Confirm that the Power Light on the DSL Gateway is green.


Step 3. Get the Phone Line Splitter out of the Black Bag.and plug the thin, rectangular end of the Splitter into the Phone Jack closest to your computer.


Step 4. Get the Black DSL Cable out of the Black Bag. and plug one end of the DSL Cable into the DSL Port located on the back of the DSL Gateway.


Step 5. Plug the other end of the DSL Cable into one of the two ports on the Splitter plugged into the Phone Jack closest to your computer.


Step 6. Confirm that the Power and Internet Lights on
the DSL Gateway are solid green.

Note:If the Internet Light continues to blink, confirm you have
received notification from your DSL Service Provider that your
DSL service is on. Otherwise, contact your DSL Service Provider
immediately.


Step 7. Get the Yellow Cable from the Yellow Bag, and plug one end of the Yellow Cable into one of the Yellow Ports on the back of the DSL Gateway. The Yellow Cable can be plugged into any of the Yellow Ports.


Step 8. Plug the loose end of the Yel ow Cable into the
Ethernet Port on the back of the computer.


Step 9. Confirm that one of the four Ethernet Network Lights on the DSL Gateway is green (this may take a few moments).

Note: If none of the Ethernet Network Lights glows green,
check the Yellow Cable and ensure it has been connected prop-erly.
